Eh? The hearing was LAST WEEKEND; the pic of Gonc and Cristovao may be older, but this only happened a few days ago.

That's what I am wondering, Tony. I know this is disciplinary, not criminal, but if new information comes out, if they start ratting on each other, I could see new charges being laid.

And they also mention they were unable to reach Amaral. So in my opinion they have used an old picture for the story.

It's been known for a few days; it has only just got into CdM.

I suspect that the PJ will take action against him over the diaries, too, Tony - they must be sick to death of the mud that gets thrown at them because of him and his cronies.

It all reflects back on the Judiciary; and, any decent cop isn't going to be happy about that, now are they?

Just look at the unconscionable pain he has caused people like the McCanns and the Ciprianos. How many others have suffered at the hands of this bad cop?

It has taken its time but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving bad apple.

Portugal's reputation has taken quite a beating because of Gonc and his chums. They must be looking forward to moving on to a better future.

Had he been a decent cop, both Joana and Madeleine may have been found. What a a travesty.

As for the three inspectors, it sounds as though The PJ know they were guilty even if it wasn't proven to the satisfaction of the Court. It is always easier to cast doubt on a witness statement than it is to cast doubt on written evidence, especially if the witness has got a bag over her head at the time.
Amaral and the other convicted officer were found guilty on written evidence which could not be refuted. Although I suspect that the Court would have done so if they could have gotten away with it.
Not sure what The PJ can do about the other three but it is possible that the rules of evidence are not so stringent at a Disciplinary Hearing. A bit like OJ Simpson and the Civil Case that he lost.

It is entirely possible that someone has ratted them out, and that the PJ can now prove to their own satisfaction just exactly what happened, Sabot.

Has the paper in question retracted and printed an apology?
If that story was a glitch or fabrication, would the renta mouth of Portugal stay silent?

And just one little obvious. Why, if it was false, is Morais not screaming her head off?
