Gonc has to carry the can for that one, IMO - for misunderstanding the forensic results in the first place. He was supposed to be a senior investigator, not an illiterate forker.

I am not entirely sure Gonc did misunderstand. Look at how long he got away with it? And he almost certainly thought that the hoi poloi wouldn't understand.

I've just had a horrible thought. Supposing he had managed to get The McCanns charged. From what I have seen of previous cases, The Portuguese Courts don't appear to be all that interested in Evidence.

Isn't that why he rushed to make them arguidos, Sabot? That the law was shortly going to be changed so that the police would have to have actual evidence against people, not just what their digestive systems told them?

His incompetence and bias is a matter of record, after all. How much more incompetent can you get than sending THE WRONG PERSON to Spain on an EAW?

The only way that sort of thing can be done with any sort of accuracy is on a computer screen; probably just what Scotland Yard did when they carried out their forensic reconstruction.

Apart from making sure that the McCanns had a half competent Lawyer there wouldn't have been much that Britain could do about it. And Britain did sweet bugger all to help Michael Cook, probably hoping that the evidence would speak for itself. And we all know where that got him. And Leonor Cipriano.
But it's The Judges I worry about the most. Apart from a handful of sychophantic Jurors, The Panel of Judges appear to hold sway. And if they can't see flawed evidence then there's no hope for anyone.
I shudder to think of how many innocent people are in prison in Portugal. But they are never going to do anything about that.

That is why I dislike this business of only judges deciding the outcome of criminal trials, Sabot - it is open to abuse.

Politics, croneyism, intimidation - all of these come into play. Corruption is, IMO, far less likely when the verdict is in the hands of twelve or fifteen anonymous members of the public.

I've been reading more about Cristovao and his 'dossiers' on the private lives of his rivals in the sports world.

Anyone who thinks he only started spying on people when he got involved in football is, frankly, deluding themselves.

I would not be in the least bit surprised if, shall we say, undue outside influence had some bearing on the more bizarre verdicts of some courts.

John on The Justice Forum is a very able adjudicator, and not easily fooled. And some of the long term posters on that Site aren't fools either. That's what The Antis don't like. They are getting a bashing from outsiders who until recently didn't know very much about The McCann Affair.

What kind of court sits without notifying opposing counsel? What kind of court passes documents onto every 8r troll on the internet, before telling opposing counsel there has even been a hearing?

I cannot praise the mods enough, Sabot. It is so refreshing to see the forkers being unable to get away with their usual tricks, on a site which insists on their declarations being backed up by facts.

I tend to agree with the views expressed, that it does indeed
appear that the UK justice site is a mouthpiece and a cess pit
for pro-mccann propaganda, but I've registered all the same
and I intend to provide and promote the alternative viewpoint
in the hope that lurkers on the UKJ site may question and seek
