***NEW INFO*** Goncalo Amaral's lawyer raised the issue with the judge, of Madeleine being a Ward of Court. It had been raised before but informally, so now it has been addressed formally. The delay may be attributed to the the judge having asked for the lawyer to bring her evidence/clarification on the matter, which would take time. (and also incur extra costs for Snr Amaral in the UK)

The delay is probably due to the lawyer having logistical difficulties with the UK

Everyone is encouraged to NOT try to attribute the delay to anything other than what is related to this libel case. There is nothing to indicate it is an abnormal delay.

So, at the end of the trial which is likely to cost his seedy client his Lucky Shirt, Gonzo's supposed Super-Lawyer has only just noticed that Madeleine McCann was given WoC status not long after she was abducted?

Pathetic time-wasting to stave off the inevitable.

And any lawyer that STILL hasn't grasped why Madeleine is under Crown protection, wherever and whenever in the world she is finally found, needs to go back to law school and study a few basics of international law.

If people believe it is a problem for a lawyer, then Gonc is in more trouble than we can guess. Ker-ching!

Torture takes two cops to jail

The agents of PSP Rui Neto and Osvaldo Magalhães, both 31, placed in the Police station of the Bairro Alto, Lisbon, saw the Court of Appeal of Lisbon (TRL) maintain the conviction of four years and three months in prison to them applied in the first instance for acts of torture occurred in July 2008.
The victim, Adrian Grunert, 23, was a German student in Portugal under the Erasmus program. And a German attaché of the embassy accompanied the entire trial. The process lowered the 1st instance, which issued warrants for driving the chain, yesterday nullified by resource defense. The case only become final in April - there will be arrested. Paulo Rodrigues, president of the Association of Professional Police stressed the Morning Post "there was never any actual imprisonment of civilians who have assaulted police officers."

Oliviera will make money no matter what happens. And he will gain notoriety for defending scum bags. A win win situation in Portugal as The Justice System catches up with them. Oliviera will be gainfully employed for a very long time.

He already has notoriety for defending scumbags, generally losing scumbags at that. He seems to have a 'thing' for dirty cops.

about: "goncalo amaral's lawyer raised the issue with the judge, of Madeleine being a Ward of Court.", this lawyer has no criticize the issue of Ward of Court, he is not a member of British Court, it seems to me that amaral establishes orders and his lawyer obeys / licks amaral´s dirty ***.

It's clearly a time-wasting exercise by Oliviera, Pedro, it's no secret that Madeleine was placed under Crown protection soon after she was abducted.

And if Oliviera doesn't know what that means, then it's no wonder so many of his clients are losers.

Just read on Twitter that the libel trial is due to resume and end on 25 February. Rumours are rife that delay was due to Mccanns wanting to settle with GA but he refused

Roger Kelly I think the issue is with Madeleine being a WOC, the courts take responsibility for Madeleine away from G & K and place her under their protection. Presumably McCanns, following legal advice, took this course of action for a reason

Yes, of course they did! There is nothing at all odd about it under the circumstances.

How many times now has it been explained to them that Madeleine's WoC status gives her Crown protection wherever and whenever in the world she is found?

That it means she will be taken to the nearest embassy and escorted onto the first flight back to the UK and her parents? It has NOTHING to do with Kate and Gerry McCann somehow not being responsible for her, quite the opposite.

It's astounding how stupid these people are.

Of course they can't grasp the legal concept if Ward of Court in this instance.  They are similar about libel.

It concerns me as to why Amarals team of detectives don't do more to support him? Why aren't they speaking out In his favour? Is it because of judicial secrecy? If so why should that matter after the files have been released?

Because the PJ regard him as an oxygen thief that abused his postion for money, having totally fouled up a high profile case.

As well as bringing the rest of the PJ into disrepute with his perjury conviction, defrauding his brother, and general ghastliness.
