Re: Gardening Thread.
Thanks, Bonny.
I don't want to be soppy about this because I am not a particularly soppy person when it comes to dogs. But I did have a feeling that there was a dog out there.
It will be so nice when my back is better and I can take her out and about a bit. And everyone wants to look after her if I do decide to go to England.

Although I am sorry about your back, Sabot, am thrilled about your dog. Great name by the way.....

Re: Gardening Thread.
Dear, sweet thing, sicked up this evening. Downstairs now snoring away happily. I had forgotten this about pug nosed dogs. Not that it bothers me.
Charlotte was her given name, but I call her Come On Sweetie.

Is she like this pic, Sabot?
Oh, and did she sick on the floor, or did the soft furnishings get it?

I think that is a French Bulldog, Bonny. Very similar but Pugs have got floppy ears.bb1 wrote:Is she like this pic, Sabot?

Fortunately she sicked up on the floor, but she has now discovered the most comfortable armchair for sleeping on. And there was me thinking it was mine again. Dear of her.

Re: Gardening Thread.
Thank you, LL. Very funny and mostly true.
She snores fit to bust, chases me around the house, pinched the best chair and guards all quarters. And that only took three days. So I think she has decided that I am worthy of her attention. She also wants to sit on my lap but I can't pick her up just at the moment.
Very pretty ugly but her eyes don't weep. Thank God for that.
I will worry about her anal glands later, but I've done all that with several Pekinese.

Re: Gardening Thread.
I though you all might like an update on my utterly fascinating life.
My favourite Supermarche is back up and running after the storm debacle. Thank God for that. I spent far too much money today because I have been living off the freezer. Found some really interesting stuff in the freezer. Almost prehistoric was some of it. But nothing much spoiled by freezer burn, except for some sausages.
And it was oh so nice to be greeted with pleasure by people who have now become old friends. Just shop assistants, but this is the way of France.
I do so love this place.
Charlie Baby snorted in my face when I picked her up this morning, so I shall have to refine my technique on that one. She snores and snorts like a trooper Pug.
She is the best guard dog my absent neighours are ever going to get because she hears every sound. But she doesn't sound off when I come in the back door. So I am beginning to think that she is a bit brighter than first I thought.
Thanks for the photo, LL. She is beginning to look a bit more like that, having lost some weight. What a butter ball she was.
The previous carer lied to me about her vaccinations which have all long run out. But that's okay because dogs are grossly over vaccinated these days.
I did have a few worries about she and me for a week or two, but things are loads better now. She likes me, and I know now that she will become precious to me.
I am so used to having Puppies with which there is always some sort of bonding, so I suppose that this was always going to be a small problem. But the problem was mine and not hers.
She is a totally sweet thing. Ugly as sin, and almost certainly grossly interbred. But she is healthy for the moment. I probably have five years of her company. She now barks at me from downstairs in the mornings to tell me to get out of bed. And oh how I needed that.

Re: Gardening Thread.
Well, it's all a bit of a dogs breakfast, Lily. Not all dogs are heart felt. In fact there is probably only one that is such a thing. And mine was forty years ago, and still counting. But that doesn't mean that I can't love any old dog.lily wrote:So glad to hear that Sabot.
Romulus was a close second, but he was always a bit pathetic. While Hamlet was my heart. Such a horror story he was. The most beautiful thing that I have ever seen. To watch him run was complete and utter joy. He owned me. I never owned him.
And every time I get a new dog it all comes back to me. But I did have him once upon a time.
Hamlet was the closest that I have ever come to reincarnation.

Re: Gardening Thread.
Was reading that some surfers are going to try their skills on major waves........ typically idiots will do things like that in really bad weather conditions. Pity the poor rescue people......
At least in Hawaii the weather is decent.

I hope NO resources are wasted in rescuing them when they get into trouble, then.
There's a weather/tide expert from Maine Uni on Sky just now explaining the factors that have come together to make this so dangerous. Oh, and the Tyne's just burst it's banks in Newcastle, which is now flooding.

It's a super storm this side of the Atlantic too so I can understand why they had someone on from Maine.
Not good news about the Tyne. Oh dear.......
Yes, hopefully the wannabe surfers will rethink.

Re: Gardening Thread.
Britain is battering down the hatches for yet another storm:

Weather: More Torrential Rain On The Way
The Thames Barrier is closed to protect people and property as severe rain and gales of up to 70mph are forecast to lash Britain
70? A light breeze!
It's the rain that's the biggest problem in many areas:

Benidorm was half funny, and worth watching. But I am much more concerned with me watching this at 8 o'clock in the morning. I think I might have lost the plot.

It's actually quite hard to tell what time of day it is just now, Sabot, it's almost permanently dark. You can tell it's daytime when the rain falls in grey light....
