The couple delivered personal statements at Lisbon’s Palace of Justice. This comes after the case was adjourned last month when Gonçalo Amaral sacked his lawyer in what the McCanns claimed was a “blatant and cynical” attempt to hold up proceedings. The couple are suing former police chief Gonçalo Amaral for more than 1.2 million euros over claims in his book ‘The Truth of the Lie’ about their daughter Madeleine’s disappearance.
