My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:

Created investigation Unit about Cybercrime
New PJ unit starts operating on September 23
Judicial Police (PJ) will have another national unity - the National Unity of Computer Crime Investigation - according to the amendment to its organic law, published today in the Republic Diary.
The National Unit for Cybercrime investigation is established with the amendment to Article 28 of the Organic Law of PJ (Law No. 37/2008), published in the I Series of the Diário of today's Republic.
The amendment to the law enters into force 30 days after publication.
The Judicial Police will have four national units - the National Unity Against Terrorism, the National Unit for Combating Corruption, the National Unit for the Fight against Drug Trafficking and the National Computer Crime Investigation Unit - from 23 September.
The PJ has, among its units to support the investigation, Telecommunications and Informatics Unit.
also taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:

Mixed team oversees terrorist activity in Portugal
Power sharing may make it difficult.
The new government is studying the possibility of setting up a joint team to combat terrorism, which integrates elements of the Judicial Police (PJ) and the civilian intelligence services, including Information and Security Service (SIS) and the Strategic Intelligence Service Defense (SIED).
At the fact that the secret be no human resources to cope with the new terrorist threats, realizou- yesterday If a meeting between a member of the Executive and the Judiciary Police, which already has a National Counterterrorism Unit (UNCT) to evaluate the existing means . This unit has responsibilities for the prevention, detection, criminal investigation and assistance of judicial authorities.
The new team, to be constituted, would have powers of "intelligence." That is, analysis and monitoring of potential terrorist threats.
However, the difficulties of understanding between the PJ and Secret, with regard to the sharing of power in the new unit is being seen as a possible obstacle. CM knows that to solve the problem, is under consideration the need for eventual replacement of managers.

Re: General news from Portugal
Thanks, Pedro. It's a difficult one to get right - as US agencies have demonstrated. They've been so busy eavesdropping on everyone, that they have repeatedly missed genuine threats until it was too late. Not a subject I would pretend to be knowledgeable in, but it seems to be that it has to be targetted properly?

Re: General news from Portugal
An Indian man, described as “dangerous and violent”, has been taken into custody from an Algarve hotel.
The 40-year-old is being sought by Indian authorities for murder and bomb attacks, writes Lusa news agency.
SEF police were backed by an international extradition warrant issued by Interpol, and moved in last night (Friday).
It is not clear at this point which hotel the 40-year-old India was staying at. Lusa simply says he is now in police custody and due to go before the court of appeal in Évora later this morning.
This arrest comes the day after news that three jihadists involved in the Paris terror attacks last month which killed 130 people could be on the run through Portugal.

Good catch - but I wish that idiot Donn could be sent to journalism school and taught how to report news PROPERLY, instead of making everything sound like gossip.

Re: General news from Portugal
Prime minister António Costa is adamant: the State will be wrestling back majority control of national airline TAP, irrespective of whether it reaches an agreement with current ‘bosses’, the Gateway Consortium.
Talking to journalists in Brussels today, the Socialist leader said the government’s plan to retake control of TAP “will not be subject to the will private interests who decided to sign a contract with the Portuguese State in situations at the very least precarious, as they knew they were signing (a deal) with a government that was going to be dismissed the next day”.

I didn't even know TAP had been privatised - it had a pretty good reputation as a national carrier.

Re: General news from Portugal
A statement sent from Tavira in Transition to The Portugal News claimed that “nothing new” was brought out during the session, and “the only question that could have benefitted from a clear answer remains unclear: are they going to use fracking in the Barrocal?”
I really don't think fracking the Algarve is an awfully good idea...

Re: General news from Portugal
important things about this issue:
“There isn’t a country that has discovered energy resources and that hasn’t explored them, and of course we must be careful with the environmental aspects”, he added."
"The head of the ENMC insisted that in this current phase of prospecting and exploration, there are no environmental risks.
Only if oil or natural gas was to be found and proceedings moved on to a phase of exploration, would it be necessary to carry out a public consultation and study environmental impact, he explained.
“Portugal is not a rich country and we want to develop our natural resources in a sustainable manner” Paul Carmona stressed, backed by several representatives of exploration companies who guaranteed that “very strict” European environmental standards are being met."
"It is controversial not only because it uses massive amounts of water but there are concerns that it could also cause small tremors as well as contaminate surrounding water sources. "
"Tavira in Transition recounted that the mayors of Tavira, Aljezur and Loulé “spoke passionately about the Algarve and tourism and the need to preserve this sustainable economy.”
we know that Algarve depends a lot of tourism, but if the oil prospecting issue is allowed, this is another positive point for the Algarve, also for the country, which can help to increase the sustainable economy of Algarve also to increase the sustainable economy of the country.
for me, I don´t see any problem with that issue.

Re: General news from Portugal
I personally am not happy about fracking, Pedro, there are too many unknowns about it. And it has undeniably caused environmental damage in the US.
That's my own opinion, though, others see it differently.

That's an odd story, Pedro, and I am not sure Donn's version makes sense. It may be to do with the Punjab, though, and the Sikh independence movement.

Re: General news from Portugal
My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:
http://www.cmjornal.xl.pt/nacional/portugal/detalhe/tem_porta_oculta_para_prostituicao.html
Bar with hidden sex room
Women received between 15 and 20 euros per sexual act.
At first glance, the space in the center of Guimarães was 'only' one bar, but behind a covert hidden door in a wall of mirrors, customers could have sex with several women.
Paid between 15 and 20 euros per sexual act, each prostitute came to serve 10 customers per day.
The scheme was discovered in late 2012 and the Guimarães Court of Appeal now condemned the bar owner to three years and four months and one employee to eight months, both with suspended sentences.
The judges had no doubts about the guilt of the two men and decided to confirm the penalties that had been applied in the 1st instance.
"The accused managed the business as if ordinary industrial and commercial activity and they were staring at women who then traded sex as providers of a service, consisting of the transfer of one's body for sexual tract," reads the judgment.
The owner of the bar decided in January 2012 to create a space where prostitutes could have sex with clients.
The men were on their way first to a room where they could choose the woman.
Then across the hidden door, they entered a corridor where they had access to the rooms.
Women had to give 5 euros to the owner of the bar, which, by day, thus earning about 80 euros.
until the end of 2012, when he was arrested, the man raised 27,000 euros. The employee was accomplice in the scheme. The defendants are free.
