Re: General news from Portugal
From your links:
In her opening remarks, the British Ambassador commented that the British were as much mocked for their peculiar food names as for the quality of their cuisine; but argued that British gastronomy was far more than just fish and chips.
In recent years, food in Britain had improved immeasurably and new trends were appearing, showing that the UK was becoming more and more home to an innovative, modern and cutting edge cuisine.
Yes, British food has improved out of all recognition over the past few years.

Re: General news from Portugal
Here's an interesting one:
Guns and cameras confiscated from Golden Triangle private security firms
IN ALGARVE · 12-11-2015 14:35:00 · 0 COMMENTS
PSP police have confiscated a number of guns and CCTV cameras allegedly belonging to private security companies that patrol the Algarve’s up-market resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.
The operation was carried out last week by the PSP’s Private Security Department which regulates the activity. At least 18 guns, 200 rounds of ammunition and four cameras installed in patrol vehicles were seized. No arrests have been made but an investigation is ongoing.
CCTV is nothing usual - but what were the guns for?

Police detain 18 on suspicion of people trafficking; 100 victims freed
BY TPN/ LUSA, IN NEWS · 18-11-2015 08:45:00 · 0 COMMENTS
Portugal's main criminal investigation force, the Polícia Judiciária, on Tuesday detained 18 people - 13 men and five women - on suspicion of people trafficking, extortion, procuring of prostitutes, forgery and criminal association, the PJ said.
Why anyone claims it would have been hard to smuggle Madeleine McCann out of Portugal, I do not know.

Five arrested in immigration crack down
IN NEWS · 26-11-2015 14:26:00 · 0 COMMENTS
Five people have been arrested in a nationwide police operation staged over the weekend to clamp down on private security at nightspots and illegal immigration.
Arrests were made in Faro, Setúbal and Beja, for illegal private security, drug trafficking and illegal immigration. The action was carried out over Saturday and Sunday and also registered 189 offences, the majority of which at restaurants and bars or related to CCTV surveillance.
Sounds like that was a well-established criminal operation?

“The large majority of migrants who are in transit through Europe want asylum in Germany or Sweden, where many already have family and/or believe there are jobs and they can have a good standard of living. They always prefer the northern countries – the Iberian Peninsula is unknown”, he added.
If they were genuine refugees, they wouldn't be so picky. What they really mean is they get more handouts in Germany or Sweden.
Personally, I would much prefer to be in Portugal, the weather is warm and the food is good.

Re: General news from Portugal
bb1, this is the problem:
we don´t know if in the middle of those refugees there are terrorists like those in Paris.
for me (I´m not racist), if they want to be installed in Germany or Sweden, fine, it is in the hands of those two countries to decide about them.
my friend, using your own words: "Several of the Paris killers were among the so-called 'refugees'.

Re: General news from Portugal
Two separate detentions of Iranians using fake passports and attempting to pass through Portugal en-route to London, UK, have “alarmed” SEF border police, writes Diário de Notícias today. The arrests took place in Porto and Faro, Algarve, this week and last.
Since the Paris terror attacks, Portugal’s border controls have been tightened to the extent that 8,500 people have been identified in “actions of prevention”, said the paper.
But it has been the three Iranians that most stood out from the crowd - and whose passage is still being blocked, pending further investigations.
The single man identified at Faro airport on Monday was in possession of a false Romanian passport, and claimed to be on his way to London to work.
Just as the couple detained last week in Porto told police, he said he was using false papers as they allowed easier travel through Europe.
The couple detained in Porto - a man aged 34 and a 25-year-old woman - had been trying to pass through to a UK-bound flight using false Greek passports.
They told the authorities that they had arrived in Porto overland from Paris after the terrorist attacks on November 13. They claimed “tight checks” being made by French police had forced them to resort to using false identities.
How true these stories are and what SEF plans to do about them is yet to be decided.
Of the 8500 people identified at Portugal’s borders since the Paris massacres, 106 have been found to be in “irregular situations” and 64 have been ordered to leave the country, adds DN.
There have been 10 further arrests, four ‘readmissions’ to Spain (people not allowed into Portugal), and nine cases opened involving the employment of ‘illegal’ aliens.

That's worrying; there should surely be no need for ordinary Iranians on legitimate business to use fake passports?

My friends, this was taken from Correio da Manhã newspaper:

Judge allows to see pedophilia on the net
Court says crime only applies to those who purchase and has pictures.
Access a site of child pornography on the internet and see the image of a girl showing her vagina and a photo of a minor in the act of oral sex can not be considered a crime, considered the Court of Coimbra. In response to an appeal of the Public Prosecutor of Caldas da Rainha, the judges understood that such conduct "is not part under pornography crime," arguing that see the images is not the same as owning them, according to the judgment which is signed by the judge Jorge França.
The court agreed well with the acquittal of a man accused of practicing two pornography crimes with minors, noting that, according to the Criminal Code, is punished with imprisonment from one to five years who purchase or have in his possession photographs, films or pornographic recordings with minors.
The accused had accessed twice, from computers at home and in a company in Caldas da Rainha, the site of child pornography Reality Teen Videos, whose servers were closed by the Luxembourg authorities.

due to his disgraceful behaviour.
