Yes, got that, Lily.
I have no idea of what is going on around France. Or even if we would be told. No cows died of Mad Cow Disease in France. No Siree. They all just knocked themselves out and fell over, often into a pre dug pit.

Our clown is sending troops as well:
http://news.sky.com/story/1349584/uk-soldiers-deployed-to-ebola-epicentre
British troops are to be deployed to Sierra Leone on a mission to help fight the spiralling ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Up to 700 soldiers from the Royal Scots Borders 1st Battalion, based in Holywood, Northern Ireland, will eventually be stationed near the capital Freetown.
Around 40 troops have already arrived in the country, said the Ministry of Defence, and more are flying out soon.
Commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Matt Munro said: "This is a challenge unlike any, but the point is that we are very well prepared.
"This kind of operation represents, I think, the future for parts of the British Army.
"We deployed in the first instance to Sierra Leone at very short notice, not knowing how long my people were likely to be there."
He added that the soldiers were at a very low risk of contracting the virus.
The Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Argus will also sail and moor off the country's coast and could be used to evacuate any British casualties if needed.
Three Merlin helicopters will be onboard to fly doctors and personnel to hard-to-reach areas.

How do they know the soldiers are at a very low risk? So much is known about this virus and how to treat it, right?

Re: American doctor infected with Ebola
It's utter madness, Lily, squaddies are NOT trained to deal with this. Some nations, like Cuba, have a tradition of sending medical staff to horrible third world places, and have a fine record of helping WITHOUT making matters worse. There's a world of difference between that and sending in hundreds - thousands - of young soldiers and expecting nothing to go wrong.

Once there is a vaccination in place, the pharma companies will make even more blood money, won't they?

The first US Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, who was treated in Texas, has just died:
TEXAS HEALTH REPORTS DEATH OF EBOLA PATIENT THOMAS ERIC DUNCAN
And while we await the inevitable CDC press conference to follow, the stock of CMRX, whose medicine was being used to treat him, is plunging.

It's all about corporate greed, money/stocks now. That is what our corrupt leaders have brought us into no matter what party you support. I wish we had an Alex Salmond.

Or a Putin - anyone who would put their own country first. Not a thing I say very often, but in this case, even Farage would be preferable - I don't see him doing anything so damned stupid and potentially damaging to the UK, never mind the Scots soldiers.
And yes, I did notice it's not the Household Cavalry that have been given this thankless task.

Oh, I really can't think why Scots squaddies are being sent to Ebola-land, and not some of the more upper-crust regiments.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-08/2nd-dallas-patient-shows-ebola-symptoms-cbs-reports
As CBS reports,
An afternoon news conference has been called in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, to discuss a possible second case of Ebola.
The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas ‘patient zero.’
It is not clear how the patient had contact with Duncan or if the patient was one of the about 50 people being monitored by state and local health officials.
The call came in shortly after noon from Care Now, 301 Main Street, where the patient was “exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola.”
The patient is being transported to a nearby hospital by Frisco firefighter-paramedics.
First responders are also examining clinical staff and other patients. It is unknown how many other people may have been exposed to the patient.

FRISCO, Texas -- Emergency responders in suburban Dallas say a patient "exhibiting signs and symptoms" of Ebola claims to have had contact with family members of the man diagnosed with the disease in Dallas. But the person did not have contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, the Ebola patient who died today in a Dallas hospital, a spokesman for CareNow told CBS News.
Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas confirmed that a patient was admitted "after reporting possible exposure to the Ebola virus."

Special Report: First Ebola patient diagnosed in the U.S. dies
The Frisco, Texas patient has been identified as a Dallas County Sheriff's deputy, CBSDFW.com reports. The patient, Michael Monnig, was transported from a Frisco Care Now facility where he was complaining of "stomach issues," sources told CBSDFW.

Let's hope this is a false alarm.

Re: American doctor infected with Ebola
I don't think it's the disease itself, Lily, it's the utter incompetence at the top. And no-one believes the CDC - people have lost trust in authority figures. They've lied so often about things that really matter, from wars onward, that they simply cannot be believed over this.

Re: American doctor infected with Ebola
http://news.sky.com/story/1349325/spanish-nurse-found-out-she-had-ebola-online
A Spanish nurse being treated for ebola has said she did not tell doctors she had been in contact with the virus and only found out she had the disease after reading the news online.
Theresa Romero is in quarantine in a Madrid hospital after she was diagnosed with the virus, which she contracted while cleaning up after Spanish missionary Manuel Garcia Viejo, who died from the disease.
The 40-year-old told Spanish TV station Cuatro she did not consider she might have ebola until the last moment.
She said: "I found out on my mobile phone. I felt something was up because to begin with the doctors and nurses in Alcorcon were coming in and out every hour and then they start to come in less often.
"Then I was listening to them behind the door and I suspected something, then the last time they came in white suits.
"I asked my doctor for my result and they weren't very clear with me and then I really suspected it.
"I got my mobile and I read on (Spanish news website) El Pais that they'd said I had two positive tests for ebola. But no one had told me."
So, they weren't taking proper precautions UNTIL she was diagnosed? Stupidity seems to be more contagious than Ebola.

To be honest, I think the casual approach of NOT stopping flights to countries from certain countries, and so forth, fosters a less urgent type response to this medical catastrophe?

You know, Infowars are forever going on about how fluoride in drinking water is making people stupid. I used to dismiss it as conspiraloon nonsense, but given the way supposed medical professionals are acting, they may be on to something.....

Hajj? That's that big festival where millions of people all crowd into a small space? Usually some kind of disaster every year - plane crash, crowd stampede, something? And they all live in tents in fairly unsanitary conditions?
What could possibly go wrong?

Could you imagine 2 million pilgrims in tight proximity with one another where one or two have the ebola virus? As you say, what could go wrong?
