Re: Shooting in Paris
Yes I think so, Bonny. Maybe they are taking the safety first way as they have had experience of their planes going through buildings in the past. Also I don't know if there has been a hold put on air travel to Paris at the moment?

Not so far, Lily - even if there was, suddenly, there are numerous other airports to divert to. Eurostar is still running through the tunnel as usual, despite there being some kind of trouble at Calais tonight.

It doesn't look any better in the morning, does it? I am just waiting for the first leftie tw@t to declare that the terrorist scum should have been arrested and given a fair trial, or shot in the leg, or something equally asinine.

Quote:
I know these places well. This is where I meet up with my old friends whenever I go to Paris. In the early 90s, I saw Prince playing an aftershow at the Bataclan—now a venue which will forever be associated with tragedy and death. This is not the side of Paris seen by tourists or business travelers; rather, it’s an area where actual Parisians and people from the banlieues hang out and mix together. They might have gentrified, yet these neighborhoods have retained their proletarian and ethnically-mixed flavor. That whiff of authenticity is part of the neighborhood’s attraction for Parisian Bobos, as they call themselves. The banlieues are the cities and housing projects surrounding Paris, where most of the French youth of immigrant descent live (contrary to popular imagination, the banlieues are far from desolate ghettos, “no-go zones” or breeding grounds for jihadists: they are difficult yet vibrant and dynamic places).
This is the land of hipster socialists. These neighborhoods recently elected a female socialist mayor, as well as a slew of Green Party candidates, even as the rest of the country voted for the more conservative and anti-immigration parties on the Right.
The attackers, whomever they may be and whatever their motives, went after the heart of progressive Paris. They did not attack the more touristy Champs-Elysées or Notre Dame, or the more bourgeois and conservative left bank, where most of the government ministries are located....etc.
'Progressive' fails to grasp that the nasty, rough terrorists don't give a flying one about how tolerant they are...

Re: Shooting in Paris
A moonbat whines:
Manu Saadia- what an amazing piece. NONE of the other coverage touched on this. So sad that this is the group they want to go after. I'm one of the "tolerent" ones about integration and multi-culture. I wonder why they want to target people like myself.
A nasty rough person replies:
You're pretty friggin' stupid, aren't ya?
I thought people like you were mythical, but there you are.
Do you think the Islamic State gives nary a phuck about your progressivism?
You think they want "multi-culturalism?"
They are killing the wrong kind of Muslim!!!!
You'll probably be first off the tower, you dummy, as
they probably equate progressives with gays.
Have a nice fall.

Re: Shooting in Paris
this is again another proof that open borders without a tight surveillance allows the crime to grow.
the directive of EU about open borders is not effective. it is now time to establish a new directive.
re-install old borders with a tight surveillance again.

Re: Shooting in Paris
bb1, if a referendum about re-install the borders with a much tighter surveillance happen, I´m almost certain that all those in favour about the urgent re-install of borders would win, which would be a reason for the EU leaders or also about leaders of countries like UK which do not belong to the EU but also are a part of Europe, to re-established the borders with a much tighter surveillance. if a referendum was conducted about the Maastricht, another one should happen too about the borders issue.
in my opinion, I think that someone should talk with Mr. David Cameron about this issue, because someone has to start with the first step about this issue.

Yes, we are slightly out of the worst of this mess, Pedro, and Cameron is trying to get reforms in the EU, but it's been falling on deaf ears till now - mainly German deaf ears.
It's being reported that one French passport, and two Syrian passports, were found on the dead terrorists, and that someone in Germany has been arrested.
No confirmation yet.

about: "we are slightly out of the worst of this mess... and Cameron is trying to get reforms in the EU, but it's been falling on deaf ears till now - mainly German deaf ears.", perhaps now the arrogant German leaders like Merkel will pay attention to the events in France and will re-consider about the borders issue.

Re: Shooting in Paris
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-11-14/frances-far-right-party-calls-nation-re-arm-itself-revoke-muslims-passports-eradicat
If there is one 'winner' from last night's terrible events in Paris, it is France's anti-EU, anti-immigration far-right wing Front Nationale party leader Marine Le Pen. Having already ascended to the lead in yet another poll ahead of France's 2017 elections, Le Pen came out swinging this morning call for France to "re-arm itself," stating that radical Islam must be "eradicated" from France. She further demanded that border controls be made "permanent" and binational Islamists must be depreived of their French passport.
As Bloomberg notes:
*FAR RIGHT PARTY LEADER MARINE LE PEN COMMENTS IN TV SPEECH
*LE PEN SAYS FRANCE NEEDS TO CONTROL ITS BORDERS PERMANENTLY
*LE PEN CALLS FOR PERMANENT BORDER CONTROLS
*LE PEN CALLS FOR 'ERADICATION' OF RADICAL ISLAMISM IN FRANCE
*LE PEN: FRANCE IS 'VULNERABLE', 'MUST RE-ARM ITSELF'
*LE PEN: FRENCH PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER SAFE
*LE PEN: BI-NATIONAL ISLAMISTS MUST DEPRIVED OF FRENCH PASSEPORT
Which is all fine if this was some extreme and unpopular party, but in fact...
Marine Le Pen Tops Another French Presidency Poll...more at link.
In fairness to Hollande, he did a pretty good job from what I saw; he was at the stadium when the suicide bombings took place, but got himself on TV speaking to the nation while the bloodbath was still going on.
And the spectators who left the stadium singing La Marseillaise when they hadn't a clue what they were walking into deserve praise, too.
https://youtu.be/4iQ2cHuZ0xE
But I reckon Ms Le Pen will be the next President - the political climate is changing, from Poland to the US.
