He wants his wife's stylist to get a gong, Lily, it's ridiculous.
It's richly ironic that, since so many Lords and Ladies were appointed by the government, it is less democratic than when all the Lords were old buffers from the Shires who inherited the title. The old buffers weren't answerable to any political party.

UK central bank to help economy through Brexit with stimulus
LONDON (AP) — With the British economy in its deepest trouble since the global financial crisis in the wake of the vote to leave the European Union, the Bank of England is expected to unveil Thursday stimulus measures including a rate cut and, possibly, the creation of billions in new money.

OOOH, LOOKS LIKE A PUNCHUP AT UKIP HQ!
Favorite to lead Britain's UKIP excluded by late paperwork
LONDON (AP) — The U.K. Independence Party fought to take Britain out of the European Union. That battle may soon be won, but now the right-wing party is at war with itself. On Wednesday, UKIP announced six candidates competing to replace the high-profile but divisive Nigel Farage as party leader.

UK desperately short of trade experts to lead Brexit talks
August 03, 2016
LONDON (AP) — Britain is woefully short of one thing it desperately needs in its high-stakes divorce from the European Union: experienced trade negotiators. Ever since Britain joined the bloc in 1973, the EU has handled its trade talks, so expertise in this area has migrated to Brussels. That means the government has only a few dozen skilled negotiators — against the 1,200 it will need, by one estimate — as it embarks on the complex talks that will determine the U.K.'s relationship with its most important trading partners.

Scottish leader reaches out to Germany in bid to stay in EU
August 10, 2016
BERLIN (AP) — The head of the Scottish government has reached out to Germany, the European Union's most populous member, as she tries to keep Scotland in the bloc — and is arguing that Scotland should be able to remain part of the EU without leaving the United Kingdom.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon told German broadcaster ARD that "because we are in unprecedented circumstances, we should be prepared to think about unprecedented solutions. And that's the spirit that I will have in any discussions."
The U.K. as a whole — which includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — voted narrowly to leave the EU in a June 23 referendum, but voters in Scotland voted by a wide margin to remain in the 28-nation bloc.
"I would have thought it was very positive for the wider European Union for a part of the United Kingdom, if not the whole of the United Kingdom, to want to stay and continue to be part of the European family of nations," Sturgeon said on Tuesday.
The Scottish leader, who already has traveled to Brussels to press the same argument, met in Berlin on Tuesday with Germany's deputy foreign minister, Michael Roth. He is responsible for European issues at the German Foreign Ministry.
Sturgeon reiterated her stance that a new referendum on Scottish independence from the U.K. remains "one option" for Scotland to stay in the bloc. Roth said the meeting was a "very pleasant and constructive conversation between two dedicated pro-Europeans."
"I hope that the U.K. finds a way forward that will benefit Europe as a whole in the end," he said. Prime Minister Theresa May's new British government hasn't yet formally set in motion the process of leaving the EU, and it remains unclear what future relationship it will seek with the bloc.

Re: AFTER BREXIT
She made a complete t*t of herself, LL. I watched an English-speaking German reporter all but laugh at her last night - it was toe-curling.

Her obsession with crawling to Brussels and Berlin is going to be the downfall of the modern SNP, IMO, not least because she is ignoring the mounting chaos in domestic matters she is supposed to be in charge of. I really don't know what has happened to the SNP - they seem to be more interested in grandstanding and troughing than actually doing any WORK.
She simply doesn't have the backing outside the Party faithful - a good 350,000 Scots who normally support the SNP voted Leave. If push comes to shove, they are going to stick with the Devil they know, not Brussels or Berlin. She's lost hundreds of thousands of votes.
Many Remain voters voted NO; they aren't going to support her in her mad quest to be the Caledonian Merkel, and they too will vote for the Devil they know - Westminster.
She's played this appallingly badly, right from the early hours after it became clear Leave won, running round like a headless chicken making an unstable situation even more unstable.
She'd be better sorting out Scotland's domestic problems - her administration has thrown away hundreds of millions of pounds on failed pet projects. She's turned out to be a very empty vessel indeed, I am sorry to say.

Im not so sure Bonny. There is a lot of talk about "Brexit means Brexit".
But nobody has managed to explain what Brexit means.
We are in "Alice through the looking glass" territory here.

I don't think it ever occurred to the EU high-ups that anyone could possibly ever want to leave the earth's Most Perfect Union, Jean-Pierre. I am sure some kind of traditional British fudge will be worked out eventually, mainly because there is so much money involved.
