Independant and Guardian rubbish May's visit to see Trump
None of the US papers put Theresa May's visit to the White House on their front page. It's time to face our insignificance
While the British newspapers didn't hesitate to lead with the Prime Minister's first meeting with President Trump, for the American audience it didn't seem particularly relevant
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/theresa-may-trump-visit-newspapers-american-press-insignificance-a7550686.html
------------
Never mind the optics, Theresa May’s US dash was mortifying
Sure, it went fine – Trump managed not to drop any bombshells. But this hasty visit smacks of desperation.

Yesterday I saw so many parts of their visit on mainstream TV. I think that it might depend on the newspaper as so many are anti-Trump. However, they still hold Brits in high regard.

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
The Guardian hates Brexit, so they will spin anything so it makes the UK look bad for building non-EU alliances. And the BBC is even worse - I notice a lot of the non-Left US political blogs are full of Brits saying That rude woman doesn't speak for us, time the licence fee was abolished.
The average Brit cares about as much about US domestic politics as Americans care about UK domestic politics = not in the slightest.
The average Brit (as opposed to Lefty journos) is quite happy to see the US and UK on good terms after the Obama debacles, and for both President Trump and PM May making it clear there will be no more dumb wars for regime-changing.

There you go, Bonny. There are those however, who really get into it as though he is their President and have to argue the points as to who is better etc. I simply cannot understand that.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump want "real coordination" against Islamic State in Syria, according to the Kremlin.
In their first conversation since Mr Trump's inauguration, the Kremlin said in a statement that "both sides showed their readiness for active, joint work to stabilise and develop Russian-American cooperation".
The pair agreed to establish "partner-like cooperation" on issues such as Ukraine, Iran's nuclear programme, tensions on the Korean peninsula and the Arab-Israeli conflict, Moscow added.
There was no immediate comment from the White House on the eagerly awaited call.

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
Much hilarious Outrage! this morning.
How, exactly, did this situation arise in which borders became Evil and Literally Hitler? Did those responsible for inflicting God knows who on Western nations in the dubious cause of multi-kulti never, ever think the pendulum would swing back?
And why was there no howling and wailing when previous US presidents banned passport holders from certain nations from entering the US? Carter banned Iranians for a while.
Obama banned Iraqi refugees for six months, but I expect that, too, was different.
There's no hypocrite like a progressive hypocrite. And if progressives want to see who is really responsible for this clampdown, well, they only have to look in the mirror.

Speaking of.....
http://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2017/01/28/george-soros-financed-groups-scheme-stop-trumps-temporary-refugee-halt-order/
George Soros-Financed Groups Scheme to Stop Trump’s Temporary Refugee Halt Order
TEL AVIV — Immigration lawyers from groups financed by billionaire George Soros, a champion of open border policies, were signatories to a lawsuit filed Saturday to block President Donald Trump’s executive order halting visas for 90 days for “immigrants and non-immigrants” from Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Iran, and Iraq.
The executive order further suspended the entry of all refugees for 120 days, indefinitely blocks Syrian refugees from entering and lowers the ceiling to 50,000 for refugees allowed to enter the U.S. during Fiscal Year 2017 .
The New York Times first reported on the lawsuit:
At least one case quickly prompted a legal challenge as lawyers representing two Iraqi refugees held at Kennedy International Airport in New York filed a motion early Saturday seeking to have their clients released. They also filed a motion for class certification, in an effort to represent all refugees and other immigrants who they said were being unlawfully detained at ports of entry.
The suit was filed by lawyers from the International Refugee Assistance Project, the National Immigration Law Center, the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the International Refugee Assistance Project (formerly Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project) at the Urban Justice Center.
The ACLU is massively funded by Soros’s Open Society Foundations, including with a $50 million grant in 2014.
The National Immigration Law Center has received numerous Open Society grants earmarked for general support.
The Urban Justice Center is also the recipient of an Open Society grant.
Taryn Higashi, executive director of the Center’s International Refugee Assistance Project, which is listed on the Trump lawsuit, currently serves on the Advisory Board of the International Migration Initiative of Soros’s Open Society Foundations.
Over the last decade, Soros has reportedly provided some $76 million for immigrant issues.
In 2014, the New York Times credited “immigrant rights groups” financed by Soros and a handful of other donors for influencing President Obama’s immigration policy.

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
Yes, and long overdue, IMO.
I will happily concede that the effect on legitimate Green Card holders was clumsily done - perhaps a 48 period of grace could have been extended to them instead of stranding them mid-journey?
But how did this idea take hold that borders don't matter, that the followers of Allah can just walk into any country they feel like, without any let or hindrance?
There IS a problem with modern-day islam, that doesn't apply to any other belief system - not all of them, but a substantial minority.
I haven't forgotten that the muslims that tried to blow up Glasgow Airport and incinerate hundreds of Scots holidaymakers in 2007 were ever so respectable NHS doctors, FFS.
I confess to being vastly entertained by the ongoing Snowflake Meltdowns, though, and the way they are threatening ever increasing violence - to show how tolerant they are, of course!

I watched an old clip this morning, of Bill Clinton laying down MUCH harsher terms for entry to the States than Trump has.
And what about all those Middle East countries that won't let Israelis in?
What about the Saudis refusing to let any refugees in because they're scared of terrorism? Hypocrisy, much?

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
The rent-a-mobs shouting and bawling tonight are just too dumb to grasp that they're their own worst enemies, and that for every one marching up and down with a crude placard, twenty others just don't care, or are actually getting angry about this endless disruption, and the sight of their faces twisted with rage.
It's very telling that none of them can cope with losing votes. Remember, this started with the 2015 General Election.
They'd been assured that a Labour/SNP coalition was going to take power, and when the Tories got back with an increased majority, they were on the streets screeching about getting the Tories out in a matter of days.
Same with Brexit, and now Trump. International dummy-spitting is in progress because the Left are too childish to admit they lost.

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
I have a simple solution to this State Visit hoohah:
1. Go ahead as planned.
2. Her Maj, who is an elderly lady, suddenly goes down with flu and decamps to Balmoral, accompanied by Prince Philip, also afflicted by the snuffles. Other senior Royals are otherwise engaged except for the Prince of Wales.
3. Prince Charles takes over her duties re the Visit.
4. At the State Banquet POTUS and Charles can have a spirited exchange about climate change. Does Charles play golf?
I cannot see Trump holding Charles' hand, can you? Sorry, being somewhat facetious here - I'll get me coat!! LL

Re: Donald J. Trump wins Presidency
Quite frankly, LL, I don't even know what the problem with the State visit is, considering the ghastly procession of REAL despots and tyrants HM has shaken hands with over the years.
For example....
As far as I am concerned, it's just the usual Outrage! from the Usual Suspects that turn out to shout and bawl about anything they don't like. And gross hypocrisy, yet again, from the Left.
I actually won't be surprised if it takes place at Balmoral - much easier to keep Rent-a-Mob and the rest of the Great Unwashed at bay. And Trump can check on his Aberdeenshire golf course while he's in the area.
