I'll have a look tomorrow and see if it has any holes - other than possible slug/snail ones! LL

They aren't holes as such, LL. They just look like them. You have to hold the leaf up to the light to see what are probably thiner patches. A bit like some porcelain.

Would anyone like some horizontal rain? Apparently, the jetstream has caused an Atlantic storm to head eastwards over the UK and it is truly horrid outside.

At least we've had some sunshine and dry spells up to now, but I feel heart sorry for the people in southern England, Wales and the west, who are still mopping up from the last lot of floods.

I blame the government; this happens every time they ban hosepipes.

It's been horizontal all day here, Bonny, and so have I. I am definitely not going out in that. Sadly, nor is the dog. Three indoor pees I have cleaned up so far today. Poor baby, he's getting old.

Ah, of course, it will be catching you, too, Sabot. It's a pity dogs can't be trained to use some kind of doggy loo, isn't it?

He never does it when I am watching him, Bonny. But he knows he shouldn't because he looks sheepish when I find it. I should have given him a good beating a long time ago, except that he hides under the table if I so much as raise my voice.

It's very much like that here at the moment, MsM. The trouble is that if you cut grass when it is wet you just flatten it, and then you have to do it again.

Yes, that's true. Luckily, yesterday though was very sunny and quite breezy most of the day, so the grass wasn't too bad to cut.

Here's something you don't see very often in the UK - from the Mail:

Gardening Thread. - Page 16 Article-2159048-139FC24A000005DC-180_964x834

Bizarre: Locals in Cornwall were stunned when they saw this giant twister forming over the coast of the county. A huge storm last night caused flooding and huge seas in the county

I had a rather pleasant interlude this afternoon. Stopped off at the local Bar and had a Cafe Cognac sitting in the Not Sun, and had a conversation with a passing French stranger. I don't get enough of this, but I was pleased to note that you don't lose the language after periods of non use. And I tend to react without having to think about it these day.

Anyway, last week I bought a rather neat Bird Table because my home made one was becoming decidedly rickety.
Have you ever tried to put one of these things together? Total nightmare. Not helped by my Carpel Tunnel which is making screwing in screws difficult. This is due to much use of secateurs, and not due to too much typing.
I eventually got the whole thing together, but with one screw left over. And I totally refuse to take it to bits to put in one screw, so I sort of jammed it in at an angle which will have to do for now.
I still haven't got the light working but I can't see where to put the batteries. So much for my French.

Miraculously, my old home made one has stabilised since I moved it to the gate to dump it, so I now have two Bird Tables. Tis no wonder I own so much junk..

No camera, MsM, although I've been thinking of buying one when The Pound improves. What to do with it after that is another story.
I am always just going to buy a camera, and disaster strikes.

This bird table has a large bird bath, although for the last few years I have been putting water out for them, and its surprising how often I see them drinking it.

The Express is promising us Scorchio:

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/328712/Summer-is-on-the-way-at-last

A SCORCHING blast of summer will at last roar in from the Continent this week – sending temperatures to 93F (34C).

sunny sunny sunny

Naturally, there will then be massive thunderstorms and it will start raining again. Sad

It's pissing down again here, and I haven't been out of a Cardigan yet. Or do they mean some other Continent?

Don't talk to me about bloody gardening. Fortunately my Beans are now big enough to fend for themselves, so they are definitely on their own.

One of my Sunflowers completely disappeared into thin air, but the rest are doing okay.

The Cannabis Seedlings aren't looking all that good, but I don't really care about that because I never touch the stuff myself. I only grow it because it is a pretty plant. And you are allowed to around here.
