Shooting in Paris - Page 7 Empty Re: Shooting in Paris

Post  bb1 Mon Nov 16, 2015 9:42 pm

It's an odd one, Lily, and I confess, I don't understand it. Islamic links to the nazis are a matter of record, and fairly easy to understand, but I just don't get the leftists fondness for islam...

Congress is mulling war and whether they can do it without the President.

As he is, unfortunately, also the Commander in Chief, wouldn't that involve a coup of some kind?

No, they are trying to figure out exactly how and have even quoted a NATO article which could give them the okay they need.

Will let you know more.....

Congress just needs a simple majority to declare war without the President.

Indeed, Bonny.  Of course, there is much discussion to be made but we can say that it will be carefully thought out.

It's so blatant now, not even the tame media can ignore it, surely? Mind you, until there is a regime-change in Washington, it might be better for everyone else if the US does stay out of the way, as no-one is sure which side Obama is actually on....though people do have nasty suspicions.

IMO, Obama is going to do something really dumb, in a fit of temper because he isn't being obeyed.

Bonny, he has no way of rigorous checks on them.  He cannot be trusted and he should not.  More and more people are waking up including some of his own Democrats.

http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-g-20-condemn-heinous-paris-attacks/3059820.html

IS is 'Not Contained'
But Senator Dianne Feinstein, a member of the president’s own party, expressed grave concerns on U.S. television Monday about the current strategy in Iraq.
“I have never been more concerned. I read the intelligence faithfully. ISIL is not contained. ISIL is expanding. They've just put out a video saying it is their intent to attack this country.”
Feinstein said it is clear that limited airstrikes and support for Iraqi forces are not “sufficient to protect our country and our allies.”
She said she hopes France will pursue an Article 5 and bring in NATO. Article 5 is the part of the NATO treaty that says an armed attack on one member state is an armed attack on all.
“There's only one way we are going to diminish them and that is by taking them out, because they are growing. They are in more than a dozen countries now.”
Republicans in Congress have been urging for some time a bigger pushback against IS, but Feinstein is a Democrat, and as vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, she is a leading voice on foreign affairs.

Of course he doesn't.  The guy is a fool which would not matter if he were just an ordinary person but, this is a disaster.

Jimmy Carter used to be considered the worst US President but he is a sheer genius in comparison to this clown.

No-one ever doubted Carter's patriotism, or his love for his country, Lily, even if he didn't make a great job of being president. Carter was never malicious, unlike Obama.

Meanwhile in Europe....according to this mangled google translation, the terrorists have been wandering unstopped all over Europe:

http://www.ots.at/presseaussendung/OTS_20151117_OTS0090/mutmasslicher-mittaeter-der-paris-anschlaege-war-vor-zwei-monaten-in-oesterreich

Alleged complicity of Paris-stops was two months ago in Austria
Traffic control in Austria after entry from Germany
Vienna (OTS) - Vienna (OTS) - On November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks shook Paris. The French authorities have pried perpetrators and informed the security authorities in other countries and on 16 November, on an international arrest warrant to calls Mitfahndung for possible volatile perpetrators.

Within hours, the Austrian police and the state security authorities were able to determine that an alleged accomplice of the Paris terrorist attacks on September 9, 2015 is entered from Germany to Austria together with two men who have not been mentioned in connection with the terrorist acts. At a traffic stop, he stated that he wanted to spend a week's holiday in Austria.

Currently running surveys, where the person concerned is detained in Austria and what purpose the stay has served. The Austrian security authorities are in close contact with the French authorities as well as European and international partners, to share new knowledge and to be able to make the best possible safety precautions.

The current forecast is of an increased risk situation throughout Europe, concrete evidence for Austria that currently do not. The security authorities asked, suspicious perceptions immediately report to the nearest police station.

He was indeed wandering about in Europe:

Europe's 'most wanted man' travelled from Germany to Austria in September

Authorities have revealed how Salah Abdeslam travelled to Austria through Germany back in September.

Austria’s Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner was speaking earlier today when she revealed that police were investigating the new information.

One of the presumed culprits entered Austria from Germany in September.
Now the question is where did he stay in Austria, and for what purpose. The investigative work is fully underway.

He told authorities that he was going on holiday in Vienna at the time. He remains on the run.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/couple-stockpiling-chemicals-isis-bomb-6847299

A married couple who allegedly plotted an Islamic State suicide bombing in London were foiled after using Twitter to ask for advice on a target, a court heard today.

Mohammed Rehman, 25, and wife Sana Ahmed Khan, 24, are accused of stockpiling chemicals and bomb-making material with the intention of carrying out an 7/7-style terrorist attack in the capital.

A jury was told on 12 May this year, Rehman - using the Twitter name 'Silent Bomber' and a profile picture of 'Jihadi John' Mohammed Emzawi - asked his followers: "Westfield shopping centre or London underground? Any advice would be appreciated greatly."

The tweet was spotted by counter-terrorism agencies and his activities were monitored until the couple's arrest 16 days later, the Old Bailey heard.

Sky again:

Police officers secured a scene at Robert-Enke-Strasse after finding a suspicious piece of luggage.

So, either false alarm, or horrendous event prevented.

The big match is at Wembley shortly:

PM and William To Attend England-France Game
In an unusual move, the friendly at Wembley will be patrolled by armed police in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris

By Mark White, Home Affairs Correspondent

David Cameron and Prince William will be among those attending tonight's friendly between England and France at Wembley, which will be patrolled by armed police in the wake of the Paris attacks.

Metropolitan Police commanders have taken the highly unusual decision to deploy armed patrols in the light of Friday night's terror in the French capital.

Suicide bombers detonated three devices outside the Stade de France sports stadium in central Paris, during a match between France and Germany.

:: England-France Game Takes On New Resonance

Tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend the game, including the Prime Minister and the Duke of Cambridge, who is president of the Football Association.

Shooting in Paris - Page 7 CUB3VBBXAAEQ69p

While England's friendly will go ahead, the Belgian Football Association announced it had cancelled their match with Spain over security fears.

"At the very end of the evening the Belgian FA was contacted by the government, who made the recommendation not to play tomorrow's match.

"This is because the terror alert level is high and with the current leakage of a suspicious person," a spokesman said on Monday night.

Some fans at Wembley might be alarmed by the sight of armed police patrols, but senior officers at Scotland Yard believe it is necessary as a precaution in case the event is targeted by terrorists.

Authorities are stressing there is no specific intelligence of a threat to the event, but certain high profile events in London and other UK cities will be given enhanced policing in the coming weeks because of the scale of the atrocity in Paris.

Deputy assistant commissioner Peter Terry, from the Met's Specialist Crime and Operations Command, said: "We've reassessed what security we think we need ... which will of course be a fairly sombre occasion especially considering who we're playing."
...etc.

It's very unusual for anything to be cancelled in the UK, we tend to go into Up Yours, mode.
