Why on earth should it? The UK imports far more from the EU than it exports....

Survation/Mail on Sunday (#Euref):
REMAIN 45 (+3)
LEAVE 42 (-3)
17th-18th June
#EUreferendum #Brexit
The polls are all over the place, and the figures seem to vary according to who is paying the bill.

Unfortunately, there is ample room for it to get even worse in the next few days, Lily - there's too much money and power involved for it not to.

Re: EU referendum set for June 23rd
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14566319.Jo_Cox_killing_could_have__significant_effect__on_outcome_of_EU_referendum/
THE brutal death of Labour MP Jo Cox could have a “significant effect” on the outcome of this week’s EU referendum, former first minister Alex Salmond said last night.
Salmond, now SNP foreign affairs spokesman at Westminster, said Cox’s death may even swing Thursday’s referendum towards a vote to remain in the UK.
His comments come as polls showed the Leave and Remain camps relatively neck and neck. This follows previous polling which put Leave ahead across the UK.
The former first minister also called for an end to what he claimed was “gutter” and “sewer” style campaigning from the Brexit side in the wake of the popular mum-of-two’s high-profile killing.....etc.
Yes, that's it, ramp up the conspiracy theories! The only people likely to be 'influenced' by this tragic event are the emotionally incontinent, #lovewins lot, who wouldn't have been voting Leave in the first place.
What is really 'gutter' campaigning is milking this for political ends - ordinary people are killed weekly by Care in the Community failures - where are the vigils for them?
What was really 'gutter' campaigning was the sight of millionaire Geldolf and his yuppy chums on their pleasure boats, making V-signs at hard-working fishermen.
When MP Airey Neave was assassinated within the Houses of Parliament, there was none of this hysteria - tributes were paid in a dignified fashion and life went on - including a by election.
When the IRA tried to blow up Margaret Thatcher, she didn't dissolve into a weeping heap - she addressed the Tory conference only hours later, despite her colleagues having been killed and injured in the bomb blast.
Thank God these spineless wonders weren't around in 1940 - vigils and hashtags wouldn't have been much use then.
Maybe hormones in the water really are sapping people's morale.
And why are they all feeding conspiracy theories? Get a grip, FFS!

David Cameron ‘used Jo Cox’s death’ to campaign for Remain
Of course he did! Anyone that imagines he's been sitting in Downing Street sobbing is deluding themselves. The poor woman was barely cold before Cameron and co were scrambling to find ways of using her death to best advantage.

Re: EU referendum set for June 23rd
Or the books of condolences, staffed by Remain campaigners in t-shirts reminding the signatories they were better in.
'It's what Jo would have wanted', they said, suddenly her representatives here on earth for a voice from the grave.
Many called for a kinder politics in her memory. You'll notice it is the same people lecturing us on being kind who spent a full week prior threatening pensioners with poverty and writing a blackmail budget. They represent a project called Fear.
Their hypocrisy knows no end.
Ask yourself what would have happened had it been Nigel Farage not Jo Cox slain on a pavement, whether they would have called for kinder Politics?
I suspect in some quarters they would declare he brought it on himself. How they laughed when his family were attacked whilst trying to enjoy a family lunch in a pub.

Is it possible to get any more patronising? Anyone over about 45-50 knows that the UK managed perfectly well without the damned EU.
In its present form, the EU has been around for less than 25 years - it's not exactly the Magna Carta.

I know, it's the blink of an eye in history. IMO, if they'd left well alone, and operated as a trading bloc, with perks for members, there would never have been a demand for a referendum.
And if Merkel hadn't decided she was Empress of Europe last year, there would have been no question of Leave winning. It's all a ghastly mess.

Re: EU referendum set for June 23rd
The day opens with this exciting news for Remain:
http://news.sky.com/story/1714422/anti-eu-poster-sees-warsi-shift-to-remain-camp
A leading Conservative has defected to the Remain camp, citing Nigel Farage's controversial anti-migrant poster as the final straw.
Baroness Warsi, a former Foreign Office minister, had been a Brexit supporter but said she had been turned off by what she described as their spreading of "hate and xenophobia".
Apart from few outside the Westminster bubble ever having heard of her, there are a couple of problems with this story.
1. Those that had vaguely heard of her thought she was Labour.
2. She doesn't seem to have actually been a Brexit supporter....
http://order-order.com/2016/06/20/warsi-wanted-europe-declined-join-leave-campaign/
The Times have watered down their mischievous first edition claiming Sayeeda Warsi has ‘defected’ from Leave to Remain. No one in Vote Leave thought she was a Brexit supporter or is aware of her doing any campaigning for them at all. She has only tweeted about Vote Leave once – ten days ago – to attack them. She did not appear on the website of pro-Leave group Muslims for Britain. In February Warsi told Eurosceptic campaigners she had not declared. When Dan Hannan invited her to join the Leave campaign, she declined. Neil Kinnock even once backed her for EU commissioner…......etc.
Unelected Lord - or rather Lady - with hopes of being unelected Eurocrat? Chum of Kinnock's? Just another Uber-trougher - why on earth would someone like her ever have considered supporting Leave?
Dave must be getting really, really desperate.

How Sayeeda Warsi duped The Times
Steerpike
Today The Times have splashed on the revelation that Baroness Warsi is defecting from Out to In as a result of the ‘hate and xenophobia’ peddled by Leave. Given that the paper have run the news on its front page, one could be forgiven for thinking that the Leave camp really are ‘in turmoil’ over the defection of a ‘leading Tory’.
Only there is a small snag. Vote Leave say they were never aware she was a supporter, while Dan Hannan says Warsi declined his invitation for her to join the Leave campaign:....paywall.

If this was Warsi's idea of supporting 'Leave' then thank God she's left!
Warsi's on Sky News right now, lying her head off. Doubtless she hopes to be rewarded for this with a cushy job in Euroland, to supplement the paltry £300 a day she currently gets as an unelected member of the House of Lords.
