Re: AFTER BREXIT
She was supposed to be working with the leaders of the other parties in Scotland, who had agreed to back her, Lily. She didn't - instead, she took herself off to Europe, where they made diplomatic noises, but that was it. The door was slammed closed because she had no more authority to do so than the leader of Yorkshire County Council.
The regional leaders of Northern Ireland and Wales have both been working with Whitehall, instead of going off on undiplomatic missions of their own, trying to undermine official talks for their own ends.
Sturgeon has made an unbelievable mess of all this; she's painted herself into a corner and managed to annoy ALL shades of opinion. Most serious for her, her own supporters are angry, because she raised their expectations so high.
She has, IMO, done the classic Scots thing and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Re: AFTER BREXIT
The antics of the SNP MPs in the Commons last night demonstrates the problem perfectly.
Oh, how very right-on! Power to the peepul and all that!
But this was their policy pre-Indy referendum:
How the HELL can any other party work with them? It's impossible for anyone - including voters - to trust a word they say.

Yes - and that's a big thing to face in two different ways about. Tax rates are rather important to businesses....

They're heading for a mighty fall, Lily. The present-day SNP seems to have lost their grasp on reality.

Re: AFTER BREXIT
Brits also seem to be spending money like it's going out of fashion, Lily. I am beginning to suspect a lot of people are actually secretly relieved to be leaving the EU, and doing that Standing Alone thing again.
I have no doubt that some kind of fudge will be cooked up over financial interests, trading, etc, and the world will continue failing to end.

http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/14726622.Sturgeon_now_seen_as___39_ruthless_and_arrogant__39__by_UK_voters__poll_suggests/
NICOLA Sturgeon is viewed as the most ruthless and arrogant major party leader in Britain, according to a new poll.
The Lord Ashcroft survey asked voters to select three words from a list of 20 that they most closely associate with the leaders of the four largest parties at Westminster, as well as foreign secretary Boris Johnson.
Almost a quarter - 24 per cent from a huge sample of 8,000 - chose 'arrogant' to describe Ms Sturgeon, compared to 20 per cent for second-placed Mr Johnson, who led the charge to leave the EU and has previously compared himself to figures including Winston Churchill and James Bond.
She also narrowly came out of top in the ruthless category, pipping Ms May by one per cent. Just four per cent described the First Minister as likeable, with 12 per cent choosing 'smug' as one of their options.
The results fit with a pattern of Ms Sturgeon's declining popularity at UK level, after she rose to prominence south of the border with impressive showings in TV debates ahead of last year's general election. A poll conducted in April last year showed that among men and women, across all age groups and in every nation and region covering Scotland, England and Wales, the First Minister had highest net approval rating of any UK party leader.
You have to be here to appreciate the full catastrophe Ms Sturgeon is causing; rarely has a politician promised so much and achieved so little.
She has done nothing but issue demands and make empty threats since the Brexit vote, while everything she touches domestically (when she can be bothered) turns into a complete shambles.

Quite - plus using Merkel and Hillary for inspiration. All the while forgetting that her actual position is akin to a US state governor, and her prime responsibility is boring stuff like schools, police, etc - all of which she is fouling up while playing at being a world statesman.

Oh, we're getting a Wall - or rather, Calais is:
Of course, the French authorities could always solve the problem by NOT letting these criminals into France in the first place, or deporting them when they're caught.....

Re: AFTER BREXIT
http://news.sky.com/story/brexit-to-cause-15-years-of-economic-pain-former-eu-lawyer-10569236
A former top EU lawyer who oversaw the drafting of every treaty from Maastricht to Lisbon has told Sky News he thinks the UK will suffer economically for at least 15 years as a consequence of leaving the EU.
Jean-Claude Piris, who was director general of the Legal Service of the Council of Ministers for 23 years, says the costs of negotiating new trade deals and replacing laws created in Brussels will be enormous for Britain.
"The difficult things will begin after the exit," he told Sky News.
"When you have got out, you have no trade agreement at all with anybody because you are losing the fact that you were a member of the single market and you were participating in the 60 or 70 agreements concluded with a lot of countries in the world by the EU.
"You lose all of that. Trade is going to be very difficult. You will need a lot of manpower and expertise which the UK doesn't have.
"You know a trade agreement is very difficult. It is thousands of pages."
And that sums up EXACTLY what is wrong with the EU.
If trade is all that difficult, how did so many nations manage it before Maastricht was signed a mere 25 years ago?

http://stv.tv/news/politics/1366292-snp-ministers-did-not-tell-treasury-about-500m-growth-fund/?utm_content=buffer96f40&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
The UK Treasury was not informed of a Scottish Government support fund to businesses despite it requiring approval from Whitehall.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the £500m growth fund in her statement to MSPs outlining her programme for government on Tuesday.
The UK Government must approve the scheme, however, as it involves money which is not directly controlled by Holyrood.
The Scottish Conservatives called the lack of communication to the Treasury "amateurish".
Murdo Fraser, the party's shadow finance secretary, said: "This growth fund was the centrepiece of the SNP's programme for government and yet they didn't even bother discussing it with the people they need to work with to make it happen.
"While the SNP was announcing this investment, it turns out that they hadn't even consulted the UK Treasury on whether they would be able to agree this extra funding.
"It's clear that this policy has been cobbled together without any real consultation.
"This is an amateurish approach to conducting the business of government. Scotland deserves better."
Oh, it can just be added to the hundreds of millions of pounds that have been thrown down the drain on failed pet projects.

Europe forges ahead with plans for 'EU army'
Europe is planning to forge ahead with plans for an EU Army that some fear could eventually displace Nato, with senior officials in Brussels urging EU member states to capitalise on the “political space” left by Britain’s decision to vote to leave.
Federica Mogherini, the EU's foreign policy chief, is preparing to forward a timetable setting out steps to create EU military structures “to act autonomously" from NATO.
Europe’s top diplomat reportedly told colleagues that the military plan - billed by some countries as the foundation of a “European army” - represented a chance for the EU to relaunch itself after the "shocking" Brexit vote.
“We have the political space today to do things that were not really doable in previous years,” Ms Mogherini told EU ambassadors, according to a report in The Times. ..etc
But...but...only a few months ago, the europhile Remainers were denying there were any such plans! Just like they denied there were schemes afoot involving Turkish membership.
