Lots of chatter going on just now about a Lordship for Nige, due to him being the only British politician the next president of the US will speak to.

UNDER-FIRE Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon sought advice from an author of a book on “English magic” before her controversial trip to China, it can be revealed.

Another email just days before the trip advised the First Minister's planned speech might be diplomatically questionable.

It states: "Mark asked me to take a look as he is up to his eyeballs. I agree with your points in red - needs more of a Chinese flavour.

"Separately – a couple of more UK specific points: - Odd to reference Hillary Clinton in first para rather than a Chinese, UK or UN leader."

I expect Sturgeon wanted to lecture the Chinese on how she, like Hillary, is a strong wimmen.

SNP MP Corri Wilson is facing a standards probe over allegations that £88,000 of taxpayers’ money was paid into her company and then spent on her election campaign. The allegation, made by Tory MSP John Lamont in today’s Scottish Daily Mail, is that former SNP MSP Chic Brodie used his expenses account to fund Caledonii Resources, a company 90% owned by Wilson. The firm then played a key role in providing resources for Wilson’s election campaign. Readers will remember Wilson is the Nat who got her son AND daughter on the public payroll. What is it with SNP MPs and expenses troughing?

It generally takes longer than two years for MPs to get their snouts quite so deeply in the trough; the SNP appear to have broken all records.

Maybe it's a case of get it while you can because it will all be gone soon? So hopefully they will too.

I suspect the SNP are in for a nasty shock next time there is any sort of election here, Lily. They will hang on in the formerly Labour areas, not least because Labour is such a shambles, but the Tories and LibDems are going to take seats off them in the rest of the country.

Not for the first time, we have an odd situation where the Scots LibDem leader is better than the London one, whose name I can never remember....

First test is likely to be the council elections next year.

Oh Lord, now the train drivers are on the warpath. For assorted complicated reasons (generally involving incompetence) train travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh has been grinding to a halt.

Sturgeon needs to get a grip of Scotrail

There was chaos across Scotland’s railway this morning when a train broke down outside Edinburgh station just after seven o’clock. The incident is simply the latest example of poor performance from an Abellio Scotrail service which goes from bad to worse.
Commenting on the situation ASLEF General Secretary Mick Whelan said ‘the Scottish government response to the rail crisis has been pathetic. Transport Minister Humza Yousaf has stood by while Abellio Scotrail takes Scotland’s passengers and taxpayers for a ride.’
Mick added ‘Nicola Sturgeon must take personal responsibility for this situation as her government awarded this contract. She should sack her incompetent Transport Minister. You can’t control what you don’t own so the Scottish government should do the decent thing and return the railway to public ownership.'

Trains, police, education, health - all these things were running more or less smoothly before Sturgeon took office. Meanwhile, she's been trotting round the EU trying (and failing) to drum up allies, and insulting the half-Scots President Elect.

The Scottish and Welsh governments will be allowed to intervene in the court battle over how Brexit should be triggered, the Supreme Court has announced.

The High Court ruled earlier this month that Theresa May could not trigger the formal divorce process with the EU without putting the matter before Parliament, a decision the Government is appealing against.

Counsel for the Scottish Government will be invited by the Supreme Court - which will hear the Government's appeal - to address the court on the relevance of points of Scots law, so far as they do not form part of the law of England and Wales...etc.

The genius that is Sturgeon.

1. By doing this, she has established that the SNP accept that the Supreme Court, and Westminster, have the final word on Scottish affairs, and that the people of Scotland are NOT supreme - contrary to everything the SNP have been claiming for years.

2. She has further p*ssed off more than a million Scots who voted Leave, every voter in the rest of the UK who voted Leave, and more importantly for her career -

3. The approximately 400,000 former SNP supporters who voted Leave.

The legal challenge over Brexit was bought by investment fund manager and philanthropist Gina Miller and Dier Dos Santos, a hairdresser, with other "concerned citizens".

Mrs Smug Rich is a 'philanthropist' in the same sense as her ally Soros.

I don't think she - any of the top dogs in the SNP - will, Lily. They only ever talk to each other. The old guard have been tearing their hair out over the mess Sturgeon is making over just about everything, but just get shrugged off.

Some of the old guard are on the Left, some on the Right - but whatever way they lean, there is always logic to what they say, based on hard facts.

This lot seem to work on empty soundbites, whatever they think will look good in the headlines for the papers, and taking selfies. Oh, and claiming expenses.

They have proven to be shallow beyond belief - about all they've achieved is sparking a Tory revival in Scotland, which wasn't really the object of the exercise...

It sounds like they have sunk to the level of politicians on our side of the pond too!
