I have just finished reading a terrifying document. It's called 2083: A European declaration of Independence.

It's full of advice for the budding Christian martyr. Handy tips on how to build bombs and make poisons; on how to use video games to hone your shooting skills.

I came across it on a far right website.

At 1511 pages long it’s a work of extreme prejudice - against Muslims predominantly.

Ultimately, the author wants a Muslim-free Europe.

The author’s name is Andrew Berwick. He datelines the document London 2011. He spent 3 years of his life writing it and clearly believes, with a passion, every single word.

The Norwegian media claim this document is written by Anders Behring Breivik, the suspect behind the brutal attacks in Norway.

At the end of the book are pictures of Breivik himself, dressed as a blond haired and blue eyed hero of the Knights Templar.

Christian crusaders, the book suggests, have returned and are alive, well and living in London.

His last diary entry is dated 22 July 2011. There seems to be little doubt that Berwick is Breivik.

I have covered extremists of all hues for a decade now. What worries me about this document is the parallels that exist between this and another document found in a Manchester, United kingdom flat in 2005.

That document was dubbed the 'al-Qaeda military manual'. It has a similar theme to the 2083 document - An infidel-free Middle East; Handy tips on bomb making, etc.

Two sides of the same coin.

Whether both documents prove to be fake or rather, authentic catalogues of destruction, the very fact they are out there is a chilling thought.

Anyone with access to an internet connection can download these guides.

When read with the right mindset someone could - and in the case of Norway, has - create havoc on innocents whose only crime it is to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Now, it seems like I might be trying to advocate against free speech. I'm not. Free speech is an absolute for me.

No. What worries me is the how freely this information has come to be available in our information age.

The author of 2083 document claims to have 7000 "friends" on the social networking site Facebook, all of who can get a copy of the manifesto.

Clearly for some of those 7000, it will be interesting to read. Even for me as a journalist, although I found the author’s take on events skewed and in places wrong, ultimately I couldn't stop reading it.

But for others, the messages behind the ‘al-Qaeda military manual’ and ‘2083’ are a call to arms.

On that path, as we have seen in Norway, tragedy lies.

The challenge for us who believe that violence - religious or otherwise - can never be justified, is how we stop lone figures and small cells from attacking us without destroying the very freedoms we care for.

Should these documents be somehow wiped from the web, or should they be allowed to exist? Not easy questions.

Do our governments have a solution?

And while we are on the subject, should I even be writing about the documents?

Yes, is answer to that one. As I said earlier, free speech is an absolute. And so is social cohesion. Which is just 'political speak' for "Why can't we all just get along?"

Evil will always exist in the world, but we are not born that way. Norway has shown us where years of prejudice can lead.

I write that last line knowing full well that I sound like some sort of budding Miss World...

Shit. I thought that this mind set went out with The Crusades and The Dark Ages.

But then you only need to read MM and Havern's to know that it is alive and kicking. And don't kid yourselves that there is no comparison. The bigoted and mindless hatred is there for all to see. It is Forums like that that ferment the violence.

Free Speech? They don't even know what it means. And you can have my Free Speech if it will put an end to such horror. Free Speech is beginning to look like a right to incitement, and a trial by public opinion poll, so let's have done with this hypocricy.

Free and tolerant people have no need to demand Free Speech because they don't use their opinions to abuse others that they disagree with.

Purported manifesto from Norway terror suspect details war plan, refers to European civil war

Oslo, Norway (CNN) -- A rambling, 1,500-page manifesto purportedly written by the suspect in Friday's bloody terror attacks in Norway lays out right-wing extremist views and vows that a "European civil war" will lead to the execution of "cultural Marxists" and the banishing of Muslims.

While the title page of the document says "By Andrew Berwick," the writer later identifies himself as Anders Behring Breivik, the suspect in the Norwegian terrorist attacks.

The document, which is part political diatribe, part confessional and part action plan, details Breivik's background and his plans to commit Friday's attacks. It also contains various photos of him.

"If you are concerned about the future of Western Europe you will definitely find the information both interesting and highly relevant," the author writes, adding later that the work took him nine years to complete.

CNN could not independently verify that the document was written by Breivik. But police told the Norwegian newspaper VG that the document is "linked" to Friday's attacks.

Norwegian authorities would not confirm that the man in their custody wrote the manifesto, saying only it would be part of the ongoing investigation.

"The manifesto was released on the same day the atrocities happened," Acting National Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim told reporters Sunday.

"It's also new to us. We will look into the details of the manifesto."

Breivik is charged in an Oslo bombing and mass shooting at a political youth retreat on Utoya island, both of which left at least 92 people dead.

Geir Lippestad, who identified himself as the suspect's lawyer, told Norwegian broadcaster TV2 that Breivik believed the attacks were "horrible" but "necessary," and would explain himself in court Monday.

Norwegian authorities have not commented on a possible motive behind the terror attacks.

In the manifesto, the author vilifies Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and his Labour Party, which has majority control in Norway's government, accusing the party of perpetuating "cultural Marxist/multiculturalist ideals" and indoctrinating youth with those ideals. The author accuses the Labour Party of embracing those ideals and therefore allowing the "Islamification of Europe."

But a recent study refutes the author's stance.

Europe as a whole is actually set to be about 8% Muslim in 2030, according to massive study released last year by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life in Washington. The authors said part of the reason for the project was to refute ill-informed estimates about Muslim population advances.

"There has been a lot of speculation about the growth of the Muslim population around the world, and many of those who speculate don't have good data," said Brian Grim, a senior researcher at the Pew Forum. "The data that we have isn't pointing in the direction of 'Eurabia' at all," Grim said.

The rate at which the world's Muslim population is growing is slowing down, he argued. "Instead of a runaway train, it's trending with the general global population," he said.

The manifesto speculates about would happen if the author were to survive "a successful mission and live to stand a multiculturalist trial."

"When I wake up at the hospital, after surviving the gunshot wounds inflicted me, I realize at least for me personally, I will be waking up to a world of shit, a living nightmare," the author wrote.

"Not only will all my friends and family detest me and call me a monster; the united global multiculturalist media will have their hands full figuring out multiple ways to character assassinate, vilify and demonize."

Breivik was taken into custody on Utoya island by police, authorities have said.

The manifesto includes photos that appear to match those of the suspect, some of which had been posted on his Facebook page and several never-before-seen images of the same man. The author leaves clues about his family and background, and also indicates that English is his "secondary language."

The document is titled "2083: A European Declaration of Independence," a date that the author later explains is the year he believes an European civil war will end with the execution of cultural Marxists and the deportation of Muslims.

This "civil war" would come in three phases, he predicts. The first runs through 2030 and includes "open source warfare, military shock attacks by clandestine cell systems (and) further consolidation of conservative forces."

Between 2030 and 2070, he calls for "more advanced forms of resistance groups (and the) preparation of pan-European coup d'etats."

The final stage features the deposition of Europe's leaders and "implementation of a cultural conservative political agenda."

Much of the manifesto contains diatribes against Marxism and calls for the destruction of governments endorsing Marxist ideals.

The author does not specifically explain why he chose the date 2083, though it is the 200th anniversary of the death of Karl Marx.

The manifesto also contains photos of Breivik in what appear to be uniforms, including one in which he is wearing a U.S. Marine dress jacket decorated with an Iron Cross, Knights Templar and Free Mason medals.

Another picture shows Breivik dressed in a wet suit with a patch that reads "Marxist Hunter" and holding a high-powered rifle.

The author states that he was moved to action dating to "my government's involvement" in NATO's 1999 strikes during the Kosovo campaign, claiming this wrongly targeted "our Serbian brothers (who) wanted to drive Islam out by deporting the Albanian Muslims back to Albania."

He also criticizes "my government's cowardly handling of the Muhammad cartoon issue" -- a reference to the Norwegian government's apology for the nation's private newspapers having repeatedly published the controversial cartoon. Another reference blasts Norway, home of the Nobel awards, for awarding a peace prize to former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

"The situation is just chaotic," he writes, noting that "thousands of Muslims" are coming into his country annually. "These suicidal traitors must be stopped."

The author details his bomb-making experiments, including a theory that one should purchase a farm so that purchase of large amounts of fertilizer -- which can be used to make bombs -- is less likely to be noticed.

Oddmy Estenstad, an employee at a Norwegian agricultural cooperative, told CNN that Breivik bought six tons of fertilizer from her company in May.

"Be extra careful when researching for bomb schematics (fertilizer bombs), as many terms will trigger electronic alerts," he writes, one of several tips that include using an "anonymous laptop and browse free to your local McDonalds" in order to "avoid ending up on any watch list."

Besides hands-on instructions, the document also functions as a running diary. It also includes references to his relatives' sexual indiscretions, entries on some of his friends' personal lives, and his own off-and-on steroid use.

From July 2 on, though, the author becomes more business-like and complains that going off his testosterone supplements had ramped up his "aggressiveness." He then digs up his guns and prepares the bombs. It all leads up to July 22, the date of the Norway terror attacks.

"The old saying 'if you want something done, then do it yourself' is as relevant now as it was then," he writes. "In many cases; you could do it all yourself, it will just take a little more time. AND, without taking unacceptable risks. The conclusion is undeniable.

"I believe this will be my last entry. It is now Fri July 22nd, 12.51."

The latest is that he has a public defender, ie a state provided one, paid for by the very state he despises, plus he wants, in fact he is demanding, an open, fully publicised trial so he can justify his acts to the whole world. Also apparently the Norwegians have arrested 6 people, at the last coint, who may be involved. As a policeman said, he was killing people for 1 1/2 hours, so they think there may well have been two shooters. The most he can get is 23 years, so a Norwegian commentator said yesterday. When this is 23 years for each person killed ie 23 x 95 (circa) was not stated, just the 23 years max for what he had done. LL
